I am a licensed pharmacist. I spent years recommending the same treatments to patients that I was using on myself — medicated shampoos, topical antifungals, corticosteroid creams when things got severe. Standard protocol. Professionally defensible. Temporarily effective.
And then it came back. Every time.
I knew the mechanism. I understood that seborrheic dermatitis is driven by Malassezia yeast overgrowth, that antifungal agents reduce the yeast population, and that the inflammatory response follows from there. What I did not understand — until I started asking a different question — was why the cycle kept restarting.
The question was not "how do I treat the yeast?" The question was "why does the yeast keep rebuilding after treatment?"
The answer was the carrier formula.
Malassezia cannot synthesize its own fatty acids. It depends entirely on external lipid sources — sebum from the skin's glands, and the oils, esters, and polysorbates present in most skincare products. Including most seborrheic dermatitis treatments. The antifungal reduces the yeast population while the carrier formula resupplies the food source that allows it to rebuild. Every application, a partial reset.
I looked for a product formulated around that logic — one that delivered antifungal actives in a base that Malassezia could not metabolize. It did not exist. So I built one.
That is what Epicderma is.
The Formula
Every ingredient was evaluated against one non-negotiable criterion: does this provide Malassezia with a lipid food source? If the answer was yes, it was excluded — regardless of its other properties, its popularity, or its marketing positioning.
This is not a wellness product. It is a pharmacist's solution to a biological problem that conventional formulation has been solving incorrectly for decades.

Licensed pharmacist. Clinical training in how compounds interact with biological systems, the role of carrier bases in therapeutic delivery, and the difference between treating a symptom and addressing a root cause. Founded Epicderma in Miami Springs, Florida in 2024 after years of both clinical practice and personal experience with the condition.
